Philosophical elements on Spirited Away

By Diana Galindo Barajas.

One of my favorite movies is Sprited Away. This movie is full of symbols and a certain feeling that makes it an unforgetbale movie.
Chihiro was into a travel that changed her by leaving its impressions. The first thing that made her go out of the normal rythm of life was the moment when se arrived into a tunel, the begun of her travel, to a world of imagination, a deep shower of impressions. In her coulored travel she found two companions, one who was more like a lover, Haku and other that was more a friend, the No-face spirit.
I think they were in a more spiritual world, so it is posible to them to be close to an angelical existence.  The No-face friend showed a very gentle soul to her. According to a theological point of view it would be closest to a Seraph: “The seraph burns with the fire of charity; the cherub shines with the radiance of intelligence; the throne stands in steadfastness of judgement”[1].
In the other hand, Haku was always onvolver of a watery atmosphere; it could refer to life, dreams, and childhood, or maybe all lof them, which means it was a crucial love to her. But at the end of the travel they must to break away.

They hint that they may find each other in the future, since Chihiro is still a child. But despite her young soul, she was brave enought to sink into a dangerous travel. She is in the conditon of someone who just fell in the world, she Works in that worl in order to save her parents and go back to reality. In that universe she changed the life of some personages.

Even though she was in a different universe, the time there didn´t disappeared. The clock worked different, we can only guess or imagine how that time worked. We have some clues, for example the fact that wen they left the tunel their car was covered with dust and leaves. The travel endured several days, because her time to going out of that place was counted, before completely disappear and become justa n spirit. In her travel we can see she is a responsable child who cares about others. She was concerned about her parents, and was mature enough to work and face a reality with different rules.
I think this a methapore about how travel can change a person. Travelers are important because they testify how beautiful and wide is the world.
